MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center recognized as a 2024 Best Maternity Hospital by Newsweek and Statista
May 15, 2024Dubuque, Iowa; May 15, 2024 — MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center has again been recognized as one of America's Best Maternity Hospitals for providing high-quality, patient-centered maternity care from pregnancy to labor and delivery and postpartum care. Newsweek magazine and Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, present this prestigious award.

Newsweek and Statista developed a complex methodology to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking. Three data sources were used for the evaluation:
- Nationwide Online Survey: Healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes, such as neonatal and perinatal doctors, nurses, and midwives, were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the US.
- Hospital Quality Metrics with a focus on indicators relevant to maternity care
- Patient Experience Surveys: Newsweek and Statista invited over 10,000 medical professionals to participate in the survey. Only 404 winners were recognized on the 2024 list.
MercyOne Dubuque Birth Center is the only Level II Regional Perinatal Center serving the tri-state area for a nearly 70-mile radius. This means MercyOne Dubuque provides inpatient care for both women and newborns, and the specialized care team can also manage complicated pregnancies and deliveries. MercyOne Dubuque’s NICU has the most advanced technology and is backed by a dedicated staff with in-depth neonatal education and training.
