MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center and Katzmann Breast Center Receive Reaccreditation

Des Moines, Iowa; November 1, 2024 – MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center and Katzmann Breast Center have received a new 3-year reaccreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).

The Commission on Cancer is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving cancer patients' survival and quality of life through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality of care. 

Programs that the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) accredits follow a model for organizing and managing a breast center to facilitate multidisciplinary, integrated, comprehensive breast cancer services.

MercyOne Katzmann Breast Care, the first dedicated breast health center in central Iowa, offers the expertise, technology, information, and support that women and their families need to make informed choices about their care.

Located within MercyOne Comfort Health Center for Women, MercyOne Katzmann Breast Care offers care in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for women. Patients also have access to specially trained women’s health specialists who can assist with additional health concerns.

The diagnostic services offered include in-office breast ultrasound performed by breast surgeons for image-guided biopsy, staging and treatment planning. Katzmann works closely with MercyOne Imaging to provide high-quality digital and 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI.
