Clive, Iowa MercyOne chief marketing and digital strategy officer Janell Pittman is one of 50 innovative chief digital officers to know in 2022, as selected by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Becker’s notes the role of chief digital officers at hospitals and health systems is taking on increasing importance as systems embrace digital transformation. Digital executives oversee technology use across the organization, both patient and colleague-facing. The digital leaders are responsible for boosting the patient experience, access to care and innovation within the health system.

Since taking leadership of marketing and digital strategy in 2017, Ms. Pittman says MercyOne has embraced consumer-facing digital health across the full spectrum of touch points including everything from “digital front door services including online scheduling, virtual triage, and patient portals to expanding access to care with primary and specialty care telehealth visits, connection to patient wearables to helping provide care for patients with acute needs at home by offering remote patient monitoring.”

Ms. Pittman has led unifying more than 18,000 colleagues at more than 230 locations behind development of the unified MercyOne brand. She is also responsible for leading passionate teams to advance MercyOne’s culture and digital strategy along with communications and decision support.

She acquired a Masters of Business Administration in strategic leadership and marketing with honors from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She is a graduate of University of Missouri Columbia with a degree in finance and management.
