MercyOne Des Moines Foundation Welcomes Two New Employees
March 4, 2024MercyOne Des Moines Foundation welcomes two new employees: Becky Watkins was hired for the position of Grant Coordinator and Lauren McGuill was hired for the position of Foundation Coordinator.
Becky Watkins has had a long and devoted relationship with MercyOne. Becky previously worked at MercyOne House of Mercy doing social work and at Mercy College of Health and Sciences as an adjunct Instructor teaching Developmental Psychology. Becky also had experience with managing grants which led to her joining the MercyOne Des Moines Foundation team as a Grants Coordinator in August of 2023. “I really enjoy the variety of the job and being able to help people through the work we do,” said Becky. “My history working within MercyOne influenced my decision to pursue being a part of the MercyOne team. I like the culture here!” As Grants Coordinator Becky manages grants for MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, MercyOne House of Mercy, and Mercy College of Health Sciences that assist communities across Central Iowa.
Lauren McGuill graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in the spring of 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in English and minors in Creative Writing and Journalism. Lauren was looking for a career that would utilize her writing and communication skills while also making a positive difference in Iowa communities. Lauren was hired as a Foundation Coordinator in January of 2024, a position that encompassed both her writing skills and passion for philanthropy. Lauren’s responsibilities include creating marketing materials, providing communication support, aiding with fundraising campaigns, and offering general assistance to the Foundation team. “I’m really looking forward to helping with the upcoming campaigns here at MercyOne Des Moines Foundation,” said Lauren. “Knowing that my work can contribute to bettering the lives of so many people is such a great feeling! I’m so thankful to be a part of the MercyOne team.”
