JoAnn wanted to be a nurse since she was a kid. She is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of individuals of all ages. As a certified family nurse practitioner and wound, ostomy, and continence specialist, JoAnn has the opportunity to impact the health care of people with wound, ostomy and continence issues.
Frequently, JoAnn is asked why she entered this particular field? She is always pleased to share that she chose this because she can make a 'world of difference' for those suffering from wound, ostomy, and especially urinary and bowel control issues. These conditions are underrecognized and undertreated and she can provide meaningful and evidence-based help. She recognizes while most of these issues are not life threatening but they do grossly impact one's quality of life. She enjoys the challenge and is honored to help individuals regain control over these health care issues so they can live their lives fully without pain, fear, isolation and embarrassment.
