About this event
This is an introductory course that will discuss the principles of cancer treatment with an emphasis on chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy agents. Education will include safe handling practices, common chemotherapy regimens, risk factors, side effects and reaction management. THIS COURSE IS FOR NURSING PROFESSIONALS AND NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. CE credits are available for this class.Location: MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center East Tower Conference Room 7
Cost: $85.00, which includes lunch voucher, class materials and 8 CE credits
upon completion of course.
Introduction to Chemotherapy will allow you to identify the following about chemotherapy, biotherapy and targeted therapy agents:
- Pre-administration and ongoing monitoring
- Common side effects and symptom management
- Dose limiting toxicities
- Extravasation procedure
- Demonstrate proper handling, disposal and spill management of hazardous drugs
- Apply knowledge learned during pre-class work, lecture and hands-on return demonstration to safely administer chemotherapy, biotherapy and target therapy agents
