MercyOne Centerville Medical Center's nutrition services are staffed by a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and provides the highest level of nutritional counseling to hospital patients, outpatients and long-term care residents. An RDN will learn about your health history, favorite foods, eating and exercise habits, and help you set goals and prioritize. Follow-up visits will focus on maintenance and monitoring your progress.

Benefits of working with an RDN:

  • Monitors chronic diseases like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, or cancer by creating an eating plan that includes all the important nutrients that can help manage the disease.
  • Guidance navigating food allergies, sensitivities and intolerance by teaching you how to read food labels to know which ingredients to avoid and help find substitutions to keep the diet balanced and tasty.
  • Development of a weight loss program that is safe and effective and can be followed for the long term by using creative strategies to help you with meal planning, grocery shopping, food journaling and mindful eating.

The Dietary department also offers room service to MercyOne patients and long-term care residents. Patients may now choose their breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections from special menus fitting their dietary restrictions.
