MercyOne brings advanced spine surgery technology to Davenport
August 27, 2026MercyOne Genesis is bringing the latest robotic spine surgery technology to the Quad Cities region, giving patients advanced surgical capabilities from experienced spine specialists without having to travel outside the area.
“For a decade, the most difficult spine cases in this part of the state were sent out of the region. We have assembled the surgeons, the sites and now the technology to take those cases on here,” said Andrew J. Pugely, M.D., Orthopedics Care Medical Director, MercyOne Genesis.
This newest generation of spine surgery technology is a robotic platform that integrates surgical planning, real-time navigation and robotic guidance into a single system. When paired with integrated imaging technology, the system provides detailed 2D and 3D images of spinal anatomy, enabling the surgeon to develop a plan for each patient’s unique anatomy during surgery.
MercyOne is a leader in providing the latest robotic-assisted technology to help patients recover more quickly and return to their lives sooner.
“As the regional leader in spine care, we can now handle the most complex cases from across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois,” said Jordan Voigt, MercyOne President, Eastern Division. “These robotic and navigation platforms represent a substantial capital and organizational commitment to treating the most complex cases locally rather than referring them elsewhere.”
Benefits for patients:
- Smaller Incisions: enables minimally invasive techniques, which mean smaller incisions and less tissue damage.
- Less Time in Surgery: produces scans in seconds, reducing total operating room and anesthesia time.
- Fewer Repeat Surgeries: allows surgeons to check and correct hardware placement, preventing later revision surgery.
- Quicker Recovery: results in less post-surgery pain, fewer complications and a faster return to normal life.
