MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center 26th annual Walk to Remember honors Infant Loss Awareness Month
October 6, 2025MercyOne's 26th Annual Walk to Remember will be held Sunday, October 12, at 2 p.m. at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. The event is observant of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month in October. It is dedicated to the babies who die each year through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, or newborn death.
The event will start with a remembrance service in the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center East Tower Auditorium, followed by a walk on MercyOne's campus. The walk will conclude in the Angel Memory Garden, where the timeless love of our children will be honored.
“We want parents who have experienced a loss to know that they’re not alone, and that it’s OK to talk about their baby, and to say their name,” said Connie Thompson, RN, bereavement coordinator for MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
The event joins people nationwide to raise awareness of perinatal grief and ensure sensitive care is given to parents who experience the death of a baby.
The event will also feature activities and refreshments following the walk.
