Deepika, MD, specializes in endocrinology – the hormone system essential to how your body works – at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.
“My choice to enter medicine was a very personal one. While growing up, I experienced firsthand the challenges my loved ones faced with terminal illness,” says Deepika. “This is ultimately what sparked my interest in medicine and becoming a doctor.”
She earned degrees from Kasturba Medical College in India and in Texas at Houston Methodist Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine.
Deepika is a fellowship-trained doctor, meaning she has even more training and expertise to care for your complex needs. This includes Type 2 diabetes – a preventable disease which also puts you at risk for other serious conditions like a stroke or painful neuropathy (nerve damage).
