About

Erik Arneson, MD, is a board-certified neurologist at MercyOne Ruan Neurology Care in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dr. Arneson grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and completed his undergraduate degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He spent the next nine years in Iowa City, where he completed medical school, residency and fellowship training at the University of Iowa. Afterwards, he decided to return to Des Moines to be closer to family and joined the MercyOne Ruan Neurology practice.

“My clinical expertise is in neuroimmunology, or inflammatory and autoimmune conditions that affect the central nervous system. In particular, I have a clinical interest in treating patients with multiple sclerosis but am also experienced with treating more uncommon conditions such as neuromyelitis optica, neurosarcoidosis, and autoimmune encephalitis. MercyOne Ruan Neurology has a long tradition of providing excellent care to patients with these conditions, which made the practice a great fit for me.”
