Gaurav Karn, MD

Gaurav Karn, MD, is a provider at MercyOne North Iowa Internal Medicine Residency. He’s passionate about preventive medicine, specifically how diet and exercise influence our own body’s ability to heal. He’s also fascinated by how the mind influences the duration of illness and disease.

After growing up in an impoverished area of Nepal and watching his grandfather run a small medical clinic in his village, Dr. Karn became interested in pursuing a career in medicine and serving his own community. He has lived in Des Moines since he was 10 years old and is excited to practice medicine and serve the community in his beloved State.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer, reading fantasy novels and history books, being outdoors, camping and trekking.
