About this event
This program is designed for Basic Life Support Instructors.Intended Audience: BLS Instructors
Objectives:
- Review the new 2020 American Heart Association guidelines.
 - Demonstrate skills in the resuscitation of an adult victim of a respiratory and cardiac arrest in one rescuer and two rescuer situations.
 - Demonstrate skills in the resuscitation of a respiratory and cardiac arrest in an infant and child.
 - Demonstrate skills in the treatment of both a conscious and unconscious victim with an obstructed airway (adult, child and infant rescuers).
 - Discuss the required knowledge, syllabus, skills, attitude and responsibilities of an instructor to facilitate adult learning.
 - Discuss AHA course record requirements & Training Center affiliation.
 - Discuss infection control practice.
 - Demonstrate skills needed to assist in administration of EPI-pen, applying bandages for hemorrhage control, and doffing and donning PPE (gloves).
 
During Class Students must:
- Successfully demonstrate all provider skills.
 - Successfully complete the provider written examination.
 - Successfully complete the instructor written examination.
 - Successfully evaluate other students during class.
 
Prerequisites for BLS Instructor Renewal Course:
- A Current AHA BLS Instructor Card
 - Attend updates as required within the previous 2 years.
 - Teach 4 classes in your 2 year certification period to complete your renewal. Earn 4 credits by doing any combination of the following:
- Teach a minimum of 4 classroom provider courses in 2 years
 - Conduct skills practice and testing sessions for e-Learning courses; each day of skills practice and testing sessions counts as 1 of the required 4 courses
 
 
Refund/Cancellation Policy:
MercyOne Genesis reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather.
If a class is canceled for those reasons, you will be given the option of a refund or to reschedule for a later date.
You will be notified of the decision via email, phone or both, based on the information given to us at registration.
**If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to class, you will be asked to reschedule**
No Shows: There will be no refunds for not showing up to class.
Cancellation notice is required to receive a refund.
