MercyOne Genesis Family Medicine Residency Program
A Note from the Program Director
Hello and welcome to the Quad Cities Genesis Family Medicine Residency Program in Davenport, Iowa.
Our residency program celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. We have a long-standing history of training amazing family medicine physicians who have been able to provide care in a multitude of settings after graduation.
We provide full spectrum family medicine training with a heavy emphasis on the outpatient setting. We have home call which allows us to mimic real-life responsibilities.
We are one of the few residency programs to have daily clinic. Not only does this provide continuity of care for our patients, but also the ability to collaborate with fellow residents and faculty on a daily basis.
One of our true strengths is the core faculty. We have faculty who are fellowship trained in sports medicine and surgical obstetrics, faculty with additional training in hospice and palliative care and ENT. Our faculty bring decades of experience and provide a comfortable and exciting atmosphere to the residency program. Our community preceptors are all volunteer teachers who are excited to teach residents in a one-on-one apprenticeship model.
We are excited to launch our first FMOB fellowship this year. We will be training one fellow per year in surgical obstetrics with the goal to help alleviate the maternity care provider shortage in the state.
We offer the first in state diabetes sub tract which allows participants to get board certified in diabetology at the completion of their training.
For our osteopathic applicants, we offer a strong OMT curriculum which includes didactics, OMT clinic and much more. Our program was the first to obtain osteopathic recognition in the state.
We invite you to browse our website, learn more about our program and feel free to reach out with any questions.
I wish you the very best in your quest to find the best residency program to fit your needs.
Best,
Niral Tilala, MD, ABFM
