Toys Donations Support MercyOne Children’s Hospital Patients
June 29, 2022
Donating new toys and books is one way you can support the children and families treated at MercyOne Children’s Hospital. And, we have made it easy for you by working with our child life specialists to determine an Amazon wish list of the most needed books and toys for patients. Toy and book donations need to be brand new and cannot be gift wrapped.
MercyOne Children's Hospital Child Life Wish List
Toy and book donations impact all areas of MercyOne Children’s Hospital from the MercyOne Children’s Hospital Emergency Department to the Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) to various MercyOne Children’s Hospital Pediatric Care locations and more.
MercyOne Children’s Hospital child life specialists utilize these donations for therapeutic play during a patient’s preparation and recovery. They are also used to help children cope with staying in the hospital.
“Our big overarching goal is we don’t want kids to be fearful of the hospital,” said Rebecca Gerecke, MercyOne Children’s Hospital child life specialist. “We want them to have positive experiences and not be afraid of doctors or a hospital setting so they can continue to lead healthy lifestyles.”
“Our child life program relies on donations,” said Rebecca. “We are so appreciative and can’t thank donors enough for their support.”
Fill out a gift in kind form to receive a receipt for your donation. Please bring this completed form when you drop off your donation or send it to MercyOne Des Moines Foundation at 411 Laurel St., Ste. 2250, Des Moines, IA 50314.
