North Iowa Medical Center is a 346-bed full-service community health system with a Level III trauma center. With 300+ physicians and providers, it serves more than 400,000 inpatients and outpatients annually. MercyOne North Iowa is a teaching institution offering residency programs in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiology. MercyOne North Iowa holds management agreements with seven rural primary care hospitals, making it the premier rural health care delivery network in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota.

ASHP accreditation

Our 52-week PGY1 pharmacy residency program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Application and interview process 

Candidates should complete an application through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS). ASHP Match #129613. 

Requirements for application: 

  • Registration with the National Matching Service (NMS)
  • Applicants must be graduates of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa 

Interested candidates must submit the following materials in PhORCAS: 

  • Letter of intent
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of reference submission within PhORCAS
  • Official transcripts from college of pharmacy
