MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center Certification.

To continue to advance stroke care in central Iowa, MercyOne underwent a rigorous onsite review by the Joint Commission on March 13-14, 2025. During real-time clinical care observations and interviews, a team of reviewers evaluated compliance with certification standards including program management, self-management, participation requirements, and delivering and facilitating clinical care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients.
