MercyOne welcomes new chief medical officer for Des Moines and West Des Moines medical centers

MercyOne is pleased to announce that Mohsin Mirza, MD, will join MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center as chief medical officer, effective Monday August 24.

Dr. Mirza brings extensive experience as a physician executive and healthcare leader, with a proven track record in hospital operations, clinical integration, physician engagement, quality improvement, and academic medicine. Throughout his career, he has successfully led initiatives that improved clinical outcomes, enhanced patient experience, increased hospital throughput, reduced length of stay, and strengthened overall operational performance.

Prior to coming to MercyOne, Dr. Mirza also provided leadership for a regional clinical command center that supported patient transfers, access, and capacity management across multiple hospitals, helping improve care coordination and operational efficiency across the health system.

Beyond his operational accomplishments, Dr. Mirza is an accomplished educator and widely published physician. He has mentored hundreds of residents and medical students throughout his career.
