Patient Navigators
Patient Navigators
We know how difficult it is to navigate your way through a cancer diagnosis. Questions will come up, and it’s best to have one person to connect with for your answers. That’s why MercyOne has patient navigators – to guide you through your diagnosis and treatment.
What is a patient navigator?
A patient navigator is a social worker, and a nurse navigator is a nurse. Based on your location of care, you will be able to work with a patient or nurse navigator. Both navigators have experience and knowledge about cancer.
By having a compassionate patient navigator on your side, you will find comfort, as well as have a valid source who can answer your questions.
Benefits of a patient navigator:
- Works with the cancer care team to coordinate your care
- Helps you understand your cancer, testing, treatment and what you might expect during and after treatment
- Helps manage your symptoms and side effects
- Educates you and your caregiver with financial, mental well-being and nutritional support
Why does MercyOne offer patient navigators?
No one should go through cancer alone. It’s an overwhelming, life-altering experience. To help alleviate some stress, our patient and nurse navigators are there to help you, so you can truly focus on your health. Through their guidance and comfort, you can feel rest-assured that you’re doing everything correctly.
