MercyOne Elkader Medical Center President named a rural CEO to know in 2024
March 5, 2024Elkader, Iowa; March 6, 2024 - MercyOne Elkader Medical Center President Brooke Kensinger was named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s 110 Rural Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know in 2024.
“Kensinger's steadfast dedication and unwavering commitment to health care while leading MercyOne Elkader Medical Center earned her the Iowa Hospital Association’s 2021 Young Executive Achievement Award. She has led the 25-bed critical access hospital for over five years,” said Becker’s Hospital Review.

The award recognizes executives “committed to expanding hospital service lines, renovating and improving their facilities and hiring talented team members. Although many rural hospitals have struggled due to COVID-19 and national staffing shortages in recent years, these leaders have created sustainable models for continued success.”
Kensinger was appointed to her position in Elkader in 2016 and was previously named to Becker’s 2022 list of 67 rural hospital CEOs to know, and Becker’s 2023 list of 80 rural hospital CEOs to know.
