- Congestive heart failure
- Coronary artery disease
- Heart attack
- Heart valve disease
- Structural heart disease
- Thoracic aortic aneurysm
- Adult congenital heart disease
- Lung and esophageal cancer
Cardiothoracic surgery procedures
We offer a full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgical procedures:
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
CABG improves blood flow to the heart by bypassing blocked coronary arteries using healthy vessels from other parts of the body. We also offer off-pump (beating heart) surgery for eligible patients.
Heart Valve Repair and Replacement
Our surgeons repair or replace faulty heart valves to restore proper blood flow. We utilize both traditional and minimally invasive techniques, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip).
Heart pacemaker
A pacemaker is a small device that's placed under the skin of your chest or abdomen to treat an arrhythmia (abnormal heartbeat). Wires connect the pacemaker to your heart chambers. The device uses low-energy electrical pulses to control your heart rhythm. Most pacemakers have a sensor that starts the device only if your heart rhythm is abnormal.
Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
VADs are mechanical pumps that help the heart circulate blood in patients with advanced heart failure. These devices can be used as a bridge to heart transplant or as long-term support for patients who are not transplant candidates. MercyOne’s experienced team evaluates each patient individually to determine if a VAD is the right option and provides expert care throughout the implantation and recovery process.
Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery
Using advanced robotic systems, we perform precise surgeries with smaller incisions, leading to reduced pain and faster recovery times.
Maze and Mini-Maze Procedures
These procedures treat atrial fibrillation by creating scar tissue that blocks abnormal electrical signals in the heart.
Aortic Aneurysm Repair
We repair abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms to prevent life-threatening ruptures.
Thoracic Surgery
Our thoracic surgeons treat conditions of the lungs, esophagus, and chest wall, including cancer surgeries and lung resections.
