Casey’s has been a dedicated partner to MercyOne for many years, with roots tracing back to the early relationship established by its founder, Don Lamberti. This partnership goes beyond financial support, as key leaders from Casey’s actively contribute their time and expertise by serving on our boards. Kelly Bucher, Director of Technology Planning, has been a valued member of the MercyOne Des Moines Foundation board since 2018, and previously served as board chair from 2018 - 2020. Brian Johnson, Investor Relations & Business Development, serves on the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center board, and previously served on the MercyOne Des Moines Foundation board. Katrina Lindsey, Chief Legal Officer, contributes her insights to the Mercy College of Health Sciences board. Additionally, Sam James, Vice President of Sourcing & Procurement, volunteered his time to raise funds for MercyOne House of Mercy at the 2025 Game Show Gala. This profound involvement at the leadership level and beyond truly strengthens our collaborative efforts.
Casey's deep roots in the community were especially evident during the challenging times of COVID-19. Their "Slices of Thanks" program provided a much-appreciated morale boost, donating thousands of slices of pizza to healthcare workers throughout the Des Moines community, including MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. This thoughtful gesture demonstrated their genuine care for those on the front lines.
Casey’s also recently demonstrated its commitment by serving as Presenting Sponsor of the 2025 MercyOne House of Mercy Game Show Gala, a vital event supporting House of Mercy's crucial work. Furthermore, their ongoing partnership with the Foundation provides Casey's gift cards for cancer patients in need through the William J. Semon Family Resource Fund.
