Diagnostic Cardiology Testing
Comprehensive Cardiovascular Screenings & Diagnostics
At MercyOne, we offer a full spectrum of heart and vascular screenings and diagnostic testing services designed to detect issues early, assess your risk for heart disease or stroke, and guide your treatment.
Early detection is key to preventing serious heart problems. At MercyOne, we offer a wide range of noninvasive and minimally invasive tests to assess your heart’s health and help guide your care plan. Whether you're experiencing symptoms or simply being proactive about your health, our multidisciplinary team uses the latest technology to protect and restore your heart’s health—so you can keep living your best life.
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Ultrasound – Screens for aneurysms in the abdominal aorta
- Ankle-Brachial Index – Measures blood pressure in the ankle and arm to assess risk of peripheral artery disease (PAD).
- Blood Pressure Check – Evaluates the force of blood against artery walls with each heartbeat.
- Carotid Duplex (Carotid Artery Ultrasound) – Checks for plaque in neck arteries that could lead to stroke.
- Coronary Calcium Scoring (Heart CT Scan) – A quick, noninvasive scan that detects calcium buildup in the heart’s arteries—a marker of early heart disease.
- Cardiac CT/Coronary Angiography – Uses contrast dye and CT imaging to view blood vessels and identify blockages or aneurysms.
- Cardiac Catheterization – Invasive procedure where a thin tube is guided to the heart for diagnosis or treatment.
- Cardiac MRI – Creates detailed images of the heart using magnets and radio waves.
- Echocardiogram – An ultrasound of the heart that shows structure and function, helping detect valve problems, heart failure, and congenital issues.
- Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) – Measures and records the electrical activity of your heart to detect abnormal rhythms or signs of heart damage.
- Electrophysiology Study – Analyzes the heart’s electrical signals to find and treat irregular heart rhythms.
- Stress Test (treadmill) – Measures heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen use during exercise.
- Holter Monitoring – Continuous 24- to 48-hour recording of heart rhythms during normal activities.
- Lipid Profile – Measures cholesterol and fat levels in the blood to assess heart disease risk.
- Myocardial Biopsy – Involves removing a small sample of heart tissue for examination.
- Nuclear Scan – Uses a safe radioactive tracer to create images of blood flow in the heart.
- Nuclear Stress Test – Evaluates blood flow to the heart during physical activity or medication-induced stress.
- Pericardiocentesis – Removes fluid from the sac around the heart for testing.
- Pharmacological Stress Testing – Uses medication to simulate exercise in patients unable to walk on a treadmill.
- Positron Emission Tomography (PET) – Advanced imaging to evaluate blood flow and heart tissue.
- Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) – Produces 3D images of blood flow in the heart.
- Stress Echocardiogram – Combines treadmill testing with ultrasound imaging to assess heart performance.
- Stress Radionuclide/Nuclear Cardiography – Uses a radioactive tracer to evaluate blood flow and heart muscle activity.
- Tilt Table Test – Helps diagnose causes of fainting, dizziness, or lightheadedness.
- Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) – An ultrasound probe inserted down the throat provides detailed heart images.
- Vascular screening – evaluates for the three most recognized vascular problems: abdominal aortic aneurysm (abdominal ultrasound), carotid artery disease (carotid ultrasound), and peripheral arterial disease (ankle brachial index).
- Venous Reflux Test – Assesses how well the leg veins return blood to the heart.
Ask your doctor about also getting screened for depression and diabetes—conditions that increase your risk of heart disease. Take charge of your heart health. Speak to your doctor about which heart and vascular screenings or tests may be right for you.
