Goetz & Scherder-Goetz Medical Scholarship Fund

Applications are accepted annually through March 31.

Purpose of the fund

MercyOne North Iowa Foundation announces the addition of the Dr. Steven Goetz and Barbara Scherder-Goetz Medical Scholarship. The scholarship will be offered thanks to a generous donation by the family of Dr. Steven Goetz who retired in 2020 after an almost 27-year career as a pathologist. Dr. Goetz passed away on Feb. 16, 2021. Barbara Scherder-Goetz received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Eligibility

With this scholarship, a total of $2,500 will be awarded annually. Scholarships will be awarded to those pursuing a degree in Laboratory Medicine or Nursing (e.g. Laboratory Tech, Associate Degree in Nursing (RN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), to be eligible.)

Recipients must have graduated from a school in north central Iowa that is in the MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center’s service area. Recipients must be enrolled in and/or accepted in an accredited medical program.
