What is robotic surgery?

Robotic-assisted surgery is a minimally invasive approach that allows your surgeon to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision, flexibility and control than is possible with traditional techniques.

Using advanced robotic systems, your surgeon guides small instruments through tiny incisions while viewing the surgical area on a high‑definition, 3D screen.

Benefits of robotic surgery

Robotic-assisted surgery at MercyOne uses small incisions and advanced visualization to support minimally invasive care. Potential benefits may include:

  • Smaller incisions, fewer stitches and minimal scarring
  • Less blood loss and lower infection risk
  • Shorter hospital stays and recovery times

What to Expect with Robotic Surgery

Every robotic-assisted procedure at MercyOne is guided by an experienced surgeon. Your surgeon will review your diagnosis, discuss treatment options, and determine whether robotic-assisted surgery is appropriate for you.

If robotic surgery is recommended, your care team will help you understand the procedure, recovery timeline and how to prepare for surgery.
