Friends Scholarship
The Friends of Waterloo Medical Center and Friends of Cedar Falls Medical Center Scholarships were established to support graduating high school seniors and post‑secondary students who are pursuing careers in health‑related fields. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.
Application requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Reside in Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Fayette, Grundy or Tama County.
- Be either a graduating high school senior planning to enter a health‑related program or a post‑secondary student currently enrolled in one.
- Be pursing career path such as medicine, nursing, dental and laboratory sciences, radiology and imaging, surgical and ultrasound technology, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech‑language pathology.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Complete an application packet, including two letters of recommendation, a 300‑word personal essay, a detailed five‑year educational and career plan, official transcripts and a high‑resolution professional photograph.
Applications are reviewed only if all requirements are met. Only one application may be submitted per applicant, and confirmation of receipt will not be provided.
Applications will open January 1 of each calendar year.
